Container Loading Guide: How Many Umbrella Bases Fit in a 20ft or 40ft Container
Why container quantity matters
Freight is a major part of umbrella base cost because these products are heavy. Knowing how many units fit in a container helps you compare true landed cost, not just FOB price.
Approximate loading quantities
- 15kg to 20kg concrete base: 500 to 600 pcs per 20ft, 900 to 1100 pcs per 40ft
- 25kg concrete base: 420 to 500 pcs per 20ft, 800 to 900 pcs per 40ft
- 30kg to 40kg granite or concrete base: 300 to 450 pcs per 20ft depending on shape and carton
- Nested steel or resin base: much higher quantity, subject to model and nesting ratio
Weight vs volume limits
A 20ft container can carry around 25 to 26 tonnes of cargo. Heavy bases often reach the weight limit before the container is physically full, so always ask the factory for both weight and volume calculations.
Freight planning tips
Request palletized or carton packing drawings, confirm port of loading, and compare FOB Guangzhou / Foshan with EXW for your first bulk order.
